Halton Diversity Resources Guide

As part of promoting diversity and inclusion in Halton, the Halton Equity & Diversity Roundtable (HEDR) Social Inclusion Project, a resident-led initiative, created the Halton Diversity Resource Guide in 2021. Download the guide here or pick up a hard copy at the Oakville Public Library Central branch. Guide

In the summer of 2020, discussions began around building a community-led report that would explore both quantitative and qualitative data to better understand what can be done to better provide Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) members of the community with a greater sense of inclusion and belonging. It is a culmination of work by local community organizations, educational institutions, community members and students.

Halton Black Voices – Education & Ways to Rebuild

Halton Black Voices is a new grassroots collective, intended to bring youth, families and individuals together. Our purpose is to create a safe space in the Halton region for all Black people including the 2SLGBTQQIA community, where we can establish new connections. We aim to build stronger communities by raising awareness, educating, and empowering Black community members of all ages. Our struggle for equity is bound together with the struggles of Indigenous communities of the land where many of our ancestors were transported and enslaved. Indigenous liberation is a prerequisite for Black liberation, so the work of Halton Black Voices will be closely tied to our Indigenous community members in Halton.
